"To live just for one's desire seems kind of hollow"

☆ Zolda's suit actor has a nice ass >>

☆ I just love that Goro-chan fails so utterly at whistling, yet does it all the time anyway XD

☆ Shinji's shit eating grin as he asks if Ren is jealous that Shinji will be living at Yui's place is priceless

☆ Okay, the scene where Shinji and Reiko meet Super Lawyer in the hotel. First of all, I looooove that the verbal sparring between Kitaoka and Reiko starts from the moment they lay eyes on each other. So hot. And damn, Super Lawyer is sleazy with his come ons, I'll admit, but I still think it's all ridiculously hot.

☆ And just as much as I love the tension between Reiko and Super Lawyer, I love Shinji in that scene, how he's all >: from the moment he sees WHO they're meeting and then how he's fidgeting and nodding his head at Reiko throughout the whole conversation. So adorable and silly.

☆ I don't know why the idea of Ren rolling up his sleeves and washing dishes like a pro amuses me so much, but it does. Shinji and Ren and Yui's interaction in this episode reaches a really fun, interesting tone, with Ren and Shinji's rivalry just being really amusing... you can tell that the sting of real hostility has left Ren, and sometimes he's exasperated, sometimes he's wary, but also sometimes he just messes with Shinji in a more familiar manner starting to verge in grudging friendship. And Yui headdesking at both of them just makes it all perfect.

☆ The scenes where Shinji is hanging out with Kitaoka are really interesting. On one hand you see just how much of a smooth manipulator Kitaoka is, and how it's obvious he does see life in general as a sort of strategic game which he's very good at. On the other hand, knowing about his situation gives his whole speech about eternal life and chasing desire an interesting spin. Without the background, it's just self-centered hedonism, and of course Kitaoka IS a self-centered hedonist... but the other stuff gives it a level beyond that where it becomes... almost wistful, maybe? I'm not sure what the word is for it.

☆ For all that he supposedly cares so little about right and wrong and about what people think of him personally (except in how it affects his image, which is really a very superficial concern), it's VERY interesting that gets so shaken up about Shinji questioning his choice of lifestyle. The person Kitaoka claims to be really should not give a crap if a ditzy guy like Shinji thinks that his life is hollow, yet he does care, very much.

☆ This is also a moment where you realize that for all that Shinji is kind of a naive dumbass a lot of the time, he's not actually dumb, and he can actually be VERY insightful. Also, telling Kitaoka that he doesn't hate him... it's very much who Shinji is, isn't it? He's willing to accept people as they are, without judging them.

☆ And then episode 7... first of all, poor Ren, rooming with SHinji. XD

☆ Shinji in jail amuses the hell out of me. How he's all WOE IS ME and obviously practically twitching with restlessness, and just his attitude in general and how frayed his nerves are and how that makes his reactions to everything so godamned amusing. XDD

☆ Aaaand... if last ep, Ren and Shinji's relationship had settled into an almost good-natured rivalry, here is where you see that Ren, for all that he obviously takes joy in messing with Shinji, legitimitaly likes Shinji and is willing to inconvenience himself quite a bit for him already. It's cute because you know he'd never admit to it if he was called on it.

☆ And then, the moment where you see Kitaoka put two and two together and figure out who Shinji is, and how he sifts so subtly from laid-back amused player to something potentially menacing. And what I love about Kitaoka's vibe here is that the air of potential danger isn't simply because you know he's Zolda and Zolda has them big guns that make things go boom. Rather it's more because you know Kitaoka is extremely intelligent and sly, and it's more about that air of measure, cerebral dangerous, which is sexy and interesting and potentially even more devastating than just the BIG FUCKING GUN aspect.

....It really amuses me how hung up I am on Super Lawyer. :D;;;
