I rediscovered Trek this year and have had a lot of fun with it.
And I totally grok you about tenipuri. I really looked forward to the new series...until I started reading it. Here was Konomi's chance to get his characters back under control. I also wanted to see more of characters we hardly saw before. And, like you said, he failed to show a lot of the key matches. Instead, he continues to add in more stupid super saiyan tennis powers. I stopped reading.
The Chinese drama from the few I've seen was really good, though.
There's a rumor going around that Yami no Matsuei's manga-ka will start writing it again. That'd be nice since she left off in the middle of someone's back story and a ton of other stuff.
