Well, that was fun \:D/

As a Tsukasa fan, it was awesome. It revealed more layers to him, it offered some insights, and in general made him even more interesting than he already was. But it's way way too late for me to even consider attempting talking about Tsukasa and how this movie has shifted and/or reinforced certain things I believe about him. I will just say that Ma-kun did a great job, and I think my favorite little touch was the regret on his face right after he won the tournament. If it hadn't been for that brief moment where you see that a part of him is dreading the inevitable (even though it was totally his own choice to set things in motion so the inevitable could happen), he would have been a LOT less sympathetic later on. But anyway, Tsukasa is for another post.

The Tsukasa/Natsumi scene in the rain has been talked about quite a lot since the movie came out, and it did not disappoint. I loved Kanna's acting in it. How her impulse is to run to open the door for him, but then she stops herself, because how can she? But the fact that for a moment, the fact that he came back was enough, that says a lot. Of course I respect Natsumi a lot more for not letting him in at that point. And the things she says "I always believed in you and you betrayed me". And then "Don't run to my world. This is the world you've been looking for." OUCH. That right there is what must have hurt the most. His home, the place he had to return to. Right then she took it all away. And I can't say he didn't deserve it.

But there was was a moment I actually liked just as much for them, that no one talked about at all, in the reviews I read. When he comes back and is talking to... that one baddie with the golden mask (??), and gives his explain as to why he'll defeat Dai Shocker, and Natsumi stands up and says his name, and starts to smile (and breaks into a full smile a little later). From the reviews, I'd wondered if they didn't deal with how she forgave him, if it was just glossed over. But that moment right there, that's all that's needed. You SEE her regain her faith in him, you see her believe in him again, and it's enough. It's rather cute actually.

Another thing I really loved about this movie is that throughout the series, the weak link in Team Decade has always been the Natsumi/Daiki connection, in that they don't interact much, and Daiki doesn't give a rat's ass about Natsumi, except to the extent that she affects Tsukasa. So it was great that the movie gave them a little screen time together, and I really liked their chemistry, I liked how Daiki is concerned for her and treats her as a person as opposed to That Girl-Thing Attached To Tsukasa. From their interaction here, I can totally see them being friends, as opposed to people who have friends in common but no connection themselves, is my point.

Best exchange of the entire movie:

Daiki: They're already here. Let's go, NatsuMelon.
Natsumi: NatsuMIKAN! ...Wait, it's Natsumi!

Oh, DAIKI. <3

And while I'm at that particular point in the story... Kick Hopper and Ouja? Really, Daiki, THAT's who you summon to fight for justice? I wasn't sure if it had been him or Narutaki that had summoned them, but the implication is totally that it was Daiki, and all I can do is facepalm at the silly troll.

As for Yusuke, I loved his response when Tsukasa tells him the two of them will have to fight eventually. I also love that inmediately after he is no longer possessed, his first action is to watch out for Tsukasa, in spite of it all (although perhaps he was aware of what happened and knew Tsukasa was on their side again?). That's Yusuke's huge heart for you.

The final battle with all the riders was awesome, but for me the very best for nostalgia factor (can it be called nostlagia for me, when I just started watching Kamen Rider this year?) was when agito turned around and became Shoichi. D'awwww. <3

And the final, prologue scenes were a nice touch. I started off not caring much about Sayo, but in the end there I like her. I like that she's going off to have her own adventures. As for Tsukasa... the little speech at the end about all the people he's met and all the things he's learned on his journey was very very meta, and it was totally Ma-kun saying it just as much as Tsukasa.

The sweeping under the rug of Grandpa's going EVIL kind of annoys me, but eeeeeeh. Whatever. And I'm not entirely sure I understand what Natsumi meant by "Someday I also want to look at someone's back leaving for a journey." I sense that the problem is that something was lost in translation, and that it was very specifically a comment about her and Tsukasa... but I don't know what I'm missing. :D;;

She's right though, Tsukasa's smile was gorgeous then.

And as always, I love that by the end Daiki is part of their little family, and that in the end the four of them continue their journey together. \:D/

And finally, I know some people insist otherwise, but there is no way in hell that this movie takes place within the same continuity as the other movie and the series. I'm sorry, there's just not. This is as much an alternate continuity as all the other Rider movies I've watched (with the exception of Ryuki Episode Final, because of Ryuki's rather SPECIAL situation). :D;;
No, I haven't seen Den-O's movies, but I know those ARE supposed to be part of the series' continuity).

The fact that it ends with the four of them together, continuing into the unknown, and that tis is so similar to the end of the other move, that fact ALONE would tell me that these are probably alternate endings, and that's not even mentioning the inconsistencies that crop up if one tries to fit this in the other continuity. It doesn't really matter. It works, and it doesn't HAVE to be in continuity.

(This does not mean that I don't believe that this is backstory applies to Tsukasa in the series and in the other movie, however... I rather like this backstory, because it really does explain his stranger personality traits really well).

Anyway, it's past my bedtime now. :D
