The Amazing TeniRace, episode 1 poll

SAKAKI:
In just a few minutes, you will be leaving on a race around the world.

The race is spilt into a number of legs and as you travel, you’ll have to complete various task.

At the start of each leg of the race, you will receive a small amount of cash that has to cover all expenses, except airline tickets, which you won’t need to pay for.

At the end of each leg of the race, there is a pit stop, 8 of these pit stops are elimination points, so you need to get to them as fast as you can, because if you’re last, you will be eliminated. Everybody understand that?

Your first clue is waiting inside the envelope on top of the luggage you brought with you. When I give you the word, you can run over to your bags, read the clue and jump into one of the cars in the parking lot.

What happens after that is completely up to you.

ETA: Remember that they've been stripped of all of their own cash/credit cards/etc and electronic devices (this includes helicopters, Atobe) and only have what they can carry in their packs.

Shuusuke and Yuuta win because Shuusuke is evil. Atobe's helicopter runs out of gas and glides in slowly as Kabaji spins a towel to keep it safely aloft. They finish second. Koshimae encourages Shuusuke to shave Atobe's head again.

In a shocking twist, Inui and Yanagi are the ones who finish last, despite being in the lead for nearly the entire time. Something about a protractor in a pocket or just happy to see me.

Kite and Rin get lost because Kite refuses to even look at the map when they head out. Claims he already knows the way. Rin is sitting in the passenger seat with his feet on the dash, window rolled down, and the map goes flying out of the window. There is a tiny, but noticeable flinch from Kite. "You said you didn't even need the map." "That's correct."

Kin-chan and Koshimae only find the place at all because Koshimae can sniff out buchou to top "in tennis" and hair-pull humiliate from miles away.

Yuushi and Kenya end up driving in circles. They realise the third time they pass the cigar-store Indian that it's actually Chitose holding up a little sign that says "this way to self-actualisation ->"

Jackal has a keen sense of direction thanks to his early days in the jungle. Marui smacks him when they fall behind. They make a good team.

Kin-chan and Koshimae are initially in the lead, thanks to the fact that the Taipei locals are charmed by the jungle boy from Japan, but their lead is quickly derailed by the fact that Kin-chan also has the sense of direction of a blind hummingbird. His strategy - if you can call it that - of calling Kenya-senpai for help doesn't do anything except get Team Battling Oshitaris just as lost as they are. Yuushi puts up with it for half an hour, and then makes Kenya abandon them.

It takes them another 45 minutes to figure out where the hell they're going.

Atobe, teamed with Kabaji, spends a lovely day in Taipei being ferried about on a litter while Kabaji does all the work more quickly and efficiently than the other teams combined. They win, naturally, and Atobe isn't even forced to open one of his Louis Vuitton bags.

Meanwhile, Ohtori and Shishido strike an unholy alliance with Team Fujis, and make it to the pitstop with almost no problems whatsoever. Ohtori says blandly to Sakaki that it was a very nice tour of Taipei. Team The Real Damn Golden Pair and Team Fujis come in third and second respectively. This annoys Shishido to no end.

Tezuka and Miyuki ONLY come in fourth, and its all oniichan's fault (he and Tachibana are in fifth, and he found...um. An herbal merchant.) They're followed, respectively, by Team Goya, Team Strawberry Custard Cake, and Team Data (Inui got distracted at the same merchant as Chitose, but for entirely different reasons.) Then it's Yuushi and Kenya, and Kin-chan and Koshimae, who make it barely before the final team, and 5 hours after Yuushi and Kenya.

Akutsu and Kawamura are last. The goddamn locals pissed Akutsu the hell off, and he had to kick their asses. It took a while.

Aww, I forget that just because I've fallen in love with Higa doesn't mean everyone has. :( PFFT, RYOMA GETS NO LOVE. XD But I can see dash specialist and loyal sidekick making it easily(because even if Shishido refuses to ask for directions, Choutarou would give him a LOOK and so they'd listen to Old Man #3) The Oshitari team would be completely full of strife, and so would the Fuji team. Can't you see Yuuta flailing about it all and how Shuusuke doesn't know EVERYTHING only it ends up that he does, actually, know everything. >.>

But in my opinion, Rin has a great sense of direction! Someone's gotta counter Chinen's failure at geography. >.> Then again, Kite would probably just ignore his insistence that no, that's NOT the right way. XD

The funny thing is, out of 11 teams, I only ship 3 of them (and my biggest OTP, ShishiAto, isn't even here). Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people are voting because of their ships, but I think it was going beyond shipping preferences that made the teams turn out so fun.

Great idea!
I'm thinking Atobe and Kabaji, because you can't rule 200 people without being a bit competent, or navigate the caverns of your palatial home without some innate powerful sense of direction. Plus, Atobe seems quite knowledgeable (does he know Greek, or was that a fanfic? D:)...so he'd know the answer to everything!

Data Pair would've come in first but they fell prey to the strange malady that seems to strike Inui on bad days, like, shorts being pulled down, Inui juice being too powerful...something just went wrong...

I love Yuuta, so I would've liked him to have won, but not this time round. That's necessary so that Fuji will open his eyes soon...

ahahahah! this is genius! i had fun reading people's comments too. it was hard picking because most of these pairs are smart and competitive.

i put in tezuka to win this leg because, hey, it's tezuka and he's awesome like that. i figured atobe should, but if he's limited to not being able to use his personal staff and resources, i don't think he'll fare so well. i wanted to pick Silver Pair so badly, but in the end, tezuka won.

i got akutsu/kawamura to lose because i can't see akutsu wanting to be in the race in the first place; he probably got tricked by dan tachi into showing up at all.

it was hard picking who would get lost. i see a lot of people picked kintaro/echizen, but i thought, if kintaro can run all the way to the tokyo tennis stadium, he is probably good at finding his way, and echizen who usually doesn't care for this sort of thing, would probably just follow him. in the end, i pickted kite/rin because i know them the least.

I have to put my vote of confidence in Atobe and Kabaji, because when it really comes down to it, Atobe can really make Kabaji do what needs to be done. The JackaMaru pair drop out because of Marui's stamina and having to stop at every single cake shop they pass, then later for Jackal having to stop for asprin for his resulting headache.

Shishido and Ohtori get a flat and have to share a single bicycle (with the pile mirage this seems like it would work just fine). Inui and Yanagi have a crisis when their GPS assessments differ by 1/1000th of a degree. Chitose dazzles the locals with his crazy sparkling abilities, and Kite and Rin make a quick stop to terrorize some elementary school children.

The Fuji brothers haven't pulled into the lead yet because Shuusuke is still coming up with elaborate plans for sabotage, and Yuuta is trying to shake Mizuki (who has been following them for days now).

Great idea, can't wait for the next round :D

Do not underestimate Marui's genius abilities! Or Jackal's actual ability to read a map. XD

Atobe may be smarter than smart, but I don't think he'll survive long without the benefit of modern convenience even though he's got his faithful manservent with him.

Most likely to get lost? Kintarou. Definitely. Whether or not he can run all the way to Tokyo. He has no sense of direction and no major powers of deduction.
