I have watched up to episode 5 of Kamen Rider HIghlander Ryuki. And here's an email I just sent to dimmie:

Seriously it's like someone had a checklist of character traits that make Mura go nuts.

Leather duster, check.
Spikey, kinda Fuuma-y hair, check.
Large, unexplained chip on his shoulders, check.
Badass, SO check.
Aloof, laconic attitude, check.
More to him than meets the eye, check.

That said, it would save everyone a LOT of time if he'd just explains the rules of the game to Shinji.

Come to think of it, it would save a lot of time if he'd even explain that there IS a a game.

To be fair and honest, D and I also got the same idea. And I think everyone who's ever watched Ryuki did too. They do seem very much like canon couple material in the first few episodes, until something is revealed and you're like "......but wait I thought I was supposed to be shipping Ren with Yui? :| "

So yeah, tricksy editors are tricksy. Probably the same people who decided that making Tendo and Hiyori adorable canon couple material for the first twenty-something episodes would be worth the lulz.

(Ren and Yui aren't related though, so if you choose by stick to this pairing anyway like I'm kind maybe idk possibly doing, at least there's no squick factor against it)
