Welcome home [Tsukasa/Natsumi]
Aug. 13th, 2009 10:14 amApparently I'm on a roll. \:D/
Tsukasa/Natsumi.
Spoilers for 27 again.
Welcome Home
Tsukasa didn't actually plan it, it just seemed like the thing to do at the time... not that he hadn't thought about it before, wanted to, in fact, but if he'd known he was going to do it, he probably would have gone about it differently. But he didn't plan it, he didn't think about it, he just did it, on an impulse that seemed entirely natural.
He couldn't describe what he felt when Natsumi opened her eyes and said his name. It was relief, obviously, but there was more to it. When he'd rushed into the hospital with Yusuke to see her lying there, lifeless and unmoving, it had been as if something had dryed up and cracked inside him. In his mind's eye, he saw her stand up from the studio's front steps what seemed like an eternity ago, and he heard her say it again, "Welcome home". When she opened her eyes and said his his name, the rush of thoughts and feelings going through him made him step back, not trusting himself to say anything, while Yusuke rushed to hug her. And when their eyes met and the confusion in hers faded to a smile, he knew that he would have gladly given everything to see that smile again.
After a moment he reached out and grabbed Yusuke's shoulder, pulling him back.
"Oi. Go tell the doctors she woke up," he said, jerking his head in the direction of the door.
After catching his balance, Yusuke's reaction was just the slightest tilt of his head and an almost imperceptible quirk of his lips as he met Tsukasa's eyes. Tsukasa glared, eyes widening as if to tell him to keep his thoughts to himself, and jerked his head back towards the door.
"I'm going! I'm going!" Yusuke laughed before turning to do so.
Natsumi's eyes met his again after briefly following Yusuke out. She was still smiling, but it was a little more subdued now. Tsukasa knew he should say something, ask how she was, tell her he was glad she was okay, answer the questions clear in her eyes, but he couldn't find the words for any of it, and he didn't really want to anyway.
Instead he stepped forward and sat on Natsumi's hospital bed, one knee propped up on it so he could face her as she sat on it.
"Tsukasa-kun...?"
Her voice trailed off as he reached out to stroke her hair lightly. Her eyes widened as he leaned closer, moving his hand to cup the nape of her neck. Barely able to suppress a grin at her confusion, he pressed his lips against her forehead first, then tilted her chin up with his free hand and kissed her on the mouth. It only took a moment for her lips to part on a sigh, and then she was kissing him back, her hand coming up to grip his.
Finally he leaned back, a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Welcome home, Natsumikan."

Date: 2009-08-13 05:09 pm (UTC)The other part is, I actually started it yesterday... apparently Tsukasa inspires me? Because I think I wrote two fics in all of 2008, and now 2 in a week, WTF?

Date: 2009-08-15 03:59 am (UTC)In short, I like this (and the other fic) a lot. :) Thanks for sharing them. (I was thinking if no one writes any fic on ep 27, I would try myself, but now I don't have to.)

Date: 2009-08-15 05:56 am (UTC)Tsukasa is enormously fun to write. XD
I love the fact that what he thinks is probably not ever going to be verbalized.
That is ANOTHER of the things I love about Tsukasa. I somehow really love it in stories when the really important things are left unsaid, but the people involved KNOW about it anyway, and how generally thee stuff that is not spoken of is so strong that it ends up coming out through actions anyway. So in the case of a character like Tsukasa, who would probably shoot himself in the head before actualy choosing to actually tell Natsumi he cares about her, it makes him more fascinating and it makes their relationship fun and interesting. It helps that she's not exactly forthcoming either (well, she's a LITTLE more forthcoming recently, but still).

Date: 2009-08-15 02:16 pm (UTC)I think it's ingrained in a lot of women to feel that way about it. Part of chivalry and all. :D
(Tsukasa, chivalrous? One wouldn't THINK so, and yet... he kind of is, in his own weird, twisted Tsukasa way)
The pic is from the Toei site. It's a behind the scenes pic. Ma-kun gave Kanna flowers for her birthday. :D

Date: 2009-08-15 08:22 pm (UTC)No, one wouldn't think of Tsukasa as being chivalrous. I think he makes fun of Natsumi quite often, but yeah, that is probably similar to a little boy masking how he feels by pulling pigtails of the girl he likes...and kicking sand at her. Even though I'm not so sure if Tsukasa is aware that is what he has been doing. Maybe he really thought of her as a cute pest; only during recent episodes that he started to realize the depth of his feelings.
Thank you for the link for the pic. Awww, that was so sweet of Ma-kun. For some reason, I kept thinking that the picture comes from the series, even though it has (almost) no basis (well, I can hope...) (I can't find the pic, though, but I could probably try to comb through the site again when I have more time.)

Date: 2009-08-15 09:57 pm (UTC)He's moves to stand in front of her when there's danger, he hovers, he puts his hand on her waist... he may not hold open doors, but he's still very attentive of her.
Even though I'm not so sure if Tsukasa is aware that is what he has been doing.
Oh, I'm quite sure he has no idea. XD
At least, not until recently. Probably after "okaeri nasai".
The pic is among the ones for episodes 26-27. :D/

Date: 2009-08-16 09:00 pm (UTC)You make me want to re-watch for those scenes since I don't think I've caught even half. This chivalry thing is sometimes so subtle...yet it's all the more satisfying for me than the obvious, in-my-face thing.
The pic is among the ones for episodes 26-27. :D/
Yeah, I did guess that. I simply couldn't find links to those episodes (not reading much Japanese doesn't help). But I'll get to them eventually if Toei hasn't removed the links yet. ^^;

Date: 2009-08-17 04:57 pm (UTC)Yeah, I kind of prefer subtle ships where you have to read between the line, to stories about romances where it's all out there, you know?
And I think Tsukasa's way of showing concern for Natsumi is just adorable. XD

Date: 2009-08-15 01:45 pm (UTC)And sure... I actually wanted to on the meme, but I wasn't sure we had series we liked in common that you'd want to. I have weird hang ups like that. :D;;;
