☆ Given that we're not supposed to SHIP them, I will say that I find Ren and Yui's friendship really touching. I have no idea how they came to know each other, but I think it's so sweet that he obviously does care for her a great deal.

☆ Reiko has BALLS. Really impressive balls.

☆ Scissors' actor kinda reminds me of Murakami Kohei.

☆ I really really love Ren's hair and how the spikes bounce back from the helmet. :D;;;






☆ This time around, the moment when Shinji tells Scissors that he became a Kamen Rider to protect people from monsters only, but that he thinks he must fight him REALLY stood out. I guess it's because of The Elevator Scene with Goro-chan, but this time around, as he says that I realize just how much Shinji hates the idea of fighting another human being, so him having come to the conclusion that he MUST fight to stop Scissors is... a big deal.

☆ I like that Ren has to look away when crab monster kills Scissors. It's a nice touch.

I think the moment Ren had to look away from Scissors was the first moment I really thought I liked the guy. I didn't dislike him before or anything, was just generally indifferent to him because until then he was the guy in a trenchcoat being mean to Shinji and overprotective of his girl (I think Eri hadn't come into the picture at this point, right?). But then, when he looked away and let the contract monster kill Scissors instead of killing him himself, that's when I finally had my ".....oh" moment and really started to get his character.

And Shinji about Scissors, yes. That scene at that point doesn't seem like much, but later when you get what Shinji's character is really about, it takes on a whole different meaning.

I KNOW GODAMNIT. There are points towards the ending where I was always having to rewind scenes as soon as they ended because I'd realize I'd been so completely distracted by how hot Suga looked that I hadn't paid any attention to the scene itself. TT____TT orz

Yeah, the fact that he can't make himself finish off Scissors, in spite of all his tough guy talk, and that he can't even WATCH makes Ren a lot more interesting. And after that you factor in his relationship with Yui, and specially once you know she's not HIS girl (Eri indeed hasn't come into the picture at this point) you realize that what's underneath the exterior is something else entirely.

The thing with Shinji, and how rewatching after knowing other stuff makes you see new things... it really makes me want to go and rewatch all the others. orz

(But you're right, it's probably best after a few months' distance)

The thing with Yui and Ren, and this is something to be talked about much much later, but just so I don't lose this trail of thought for when we can talk about it; is I think it's perfectly possible for a person to be in love with two different people at the same time, and the more I saw of Ren and Yui, the more I was convinced that what they had wasn't supposed to be just innocent friendship - I do believe in the end that Ren had true feelings for Yui, in spite of his equally true feelings for Eri. And it doesn't necessarily make him a bad person or anything, it just means that in spite of his tough cool kid facade, his heart is actually big enough to love Eri, love Yui, and still have some space left to love Shinji as a friend,

Just laying the idea so I don't forget it later. :D

That's a really good way to put it. I like that. XD

And no, I don't think being in love with two people makes someone a bad person, or that one has to cancel out the other.

I mean.. getting really meta about it all, the problem is not in loving two people, but in not being mindful to treat the people you love in a way that is respectful of them and of that love, and I do think that Ren, for all that he wouldn't wna tot give that impression, is exactly the kind of person that can manage that.

I've decided that I'm going to be watching 2 eps a day, more on weekends and if I have time... that's probably slowler than you watch, but I just don't have the time to actually marathon most of the time. And I also want to kind of space it out so it's not over too soon. Then by the time it's over Double will be well on its way and maybe I won't feel so bad. (Just like now it's distracting me from sadfacing about Decade).
