☆ So I don't really like Kaoru. She's a brat that bit off more than she could chew, end of story.
☆ I may not like her, but I HATE her little sycophant. Please DIAF.
☆ I think these episode were really exceptionally well written. Everyone is just spot on. But the ones I love most are Chiaki and Genta. Chiaki in particular, with his tears of rage and all.
☆ And most of all in regards to Takeru and what he goes through during this, it was all amazingly good. The guilt that he's been carrying around, how he knows it was necessary but still hates the whole, hates having to pretend, and I think maybe hates himself a little for going along with it. And then how once all that is gone, he can't help but feel empty... until Juuzo shows up. It's interesting how Genta and Juuzo were both saying the same thing, how it doesn't matter what he ISN'T, it's all the same to them, the best friend and the enemy, and it's the enemy that he hears. Probably because Juuzo knows him on that very primal, savage level, while Genta doesn't.

These episodes are interesting to me, since samurai are supposed to serve their lord and house. Normally, vassals would know if their master was a kagemusha, especially ones as close to Takeru as the Shinkengers, but since they didn't know, this is a real shock to them.
Awww, but I like Kaoru. D : She might seem like a cold, indifferent interloper, but it's how she's decided to handle this particular situation. Kaoru's been summoned to the front now that she's old enough to fight, and while her displacing Takeru so abruptly seems incredibly cruel, she most likely believes that the most important thing is fulfilling her duty and getting the job done.
It's awkward on both sides--the Shinkengers can't accept Kaoru as a replacement, because she's not their tono, while Kaoru knows that they don't consider her their compatriot in arms. Strangely enough, Kaoru in these particular episodes remind me of when the Shinkengers first met Takeru.
Kaoru's retainer does need to put a sock in it, however. He's so annoying. > C
