I loved this arc. Stupid show made me wibble at the end and wish I understood more japanese.
Basically, this is The Tetsu Arc that everyone that was watching at the start wondered if it would happen. And yes, Tetsu is a girl, and the one to first find out was Inuman, and sadhfdlsjfhdjkgfhd I'm kinda totally shipping that now. I mean, I wasn't so much during the arc itself, since Tetsu was into that girl, but definitely how concerned he was, and then at the end when he just hoists Tetsu up on his back instead of continuing to help her walk, and how he kind of smiles and glances back and tells her "Forget this. Forget all of this." and she starts crying. It was such a touching moment.
Also, the conversation with Nagisa-mama at the end. What I understood from it was that Nagisa was telling Tetsu not to give up on finding someone to love in spite of... well. Being a girl living as a boy. And it was just really touching coming from Nagisa-mama, for obvious reasons.
So re: Tetsu, both japanese Wikipedia and the Indigo site spoiled me to the fact that Tetsu leaves at the end of the next arc, so that has me sad, because yeah.
In any case, want to say that Kanna-chan did a great job, and I'm really glad she got the chance to stretch her acting wings, so to speak. It's great that she opted to go for this role, so very different from Natsumi. I mean, I love Natsumi, but if she wants to be taken seriously as an actress (and that is the impression I get from her, given that she's apparently not at all interested in doing anything remotely resembling gravure... not that there's anything wrong with gravure, simply that gravure models take on toku roles for the exposure and not as way to break into acting) then it was definitely a smart pick, I think, because it shows range.
Anyway, this was also the arc in which Yasu guest-starred. I've only seen Yasu in Go-Onger, so seeing him playing a raging asshole was definitely different! I think he did a great job. Also, the fake tattoo was hot.
This arc also had Yuya hobbling around on crutches with a cast on his foot. Obviously I appreciate the nod to continuity (as opposed to having him be magically healed), but.... er... I got the impression that the biggest problem was that the knife LANDED ON HIS UPPER THIGH when he fell. Not that he couldn't also hurt his foot, but... yeah. Although I guess he could have stitches and we just wouldn't know. So never mind.
Speaking of Yuya, in the first episode of the arc there is a moment where Kazuki puts on the sexiest expression I have EVER seen on him. Full disclosure: I think Kazuki is absolutely gorgeous, but I don't think he's naturally ~sexy~. I think he's too much of a dork to be, basically, and I also think that it's very obvious that his whole sexy ikemen thing is really tongue in cheek and that HE doesn't take it that seriously. But there is a moment where he gives everyone a secretive little smile and then looks into his wine glass and GUH. I didn't know Kazuki had it in him.
Finally, this arc saw the return of Kuya after a 2 arc drought! Kuya is... Kuya. He helps move the plot along but is not essential to it, his entire point is to show up and just be fabulous for a couple of minutes. I do love how Akira continues to not be into him and smiles in that sickly way whenever he makes a pass at her. Win!
