OOO episodes 5-6: ‘Give and take’

Wanting things isn’t bad in and of itself. What’s important is what you do with those feelings.
1. I like Eiji more and more. I like how he doesn’t judge anyone for their desires/excesses, but instead is able to put himself in their position and understand where they’re coming from. He observes and understands, doesn’t judge, but does sort of… guide through example, I guess.
2. I had absolutely no interest in Hina at the start, but she became interesting to me the moment she said that she has come to realize that she used to cling to her brother, but that she has realized that she has to stand on her own two feet and can’t use something (her brother) as a crutch.
3. I loved the exchange between Gotou and Eiji: Gotou questioning how Eiji can save the world if he can’t even control one Greed, and Eiji thinking to himself that Gotou thinks big while he prefers to focus on what’s in front of him. Says a lot about both of them.

I’d love it if you left comments over there, although it’s fine here too! :D

Date: 2011-08-28 07:43 am (UTC)And I totally get you about the slashing thing. Some shows I watch and everyone's crazy about the pairings but I just don't see it or am not interested in it. That said, it's not the case for Gokaiger. Though we really don't get enough interaction at all to really ship anyone do we?

Anyway, I do think there's enough interaction for shippping... it just doesn't lead me to go OMG GOKAIGER IS FULLL OF GAY. Marvelous and Joe are brothers in arms, Ahim and Luka are sisterly friends, and Basco and Marv are very business-like former allies turned enemies. The one place where I can see real potential for slash is Joe and Cid, but it's Shindo Gaku and he has that sort of chemistry with everyone (and interestingly enough, no one seems to past-ship that very much... I guess it's because Shindo Gaku is a man, not a pretty boy).

Date: 2011-08-28 02:35 pm (UTC)For Gokaiger, I enjoy slashing some of the boys... but like I said, I really don't think there's enough of interaction of any sort between the team members to really get a feel for them. Be it a gay shippy interaction, straight shippy interaction or friendship.
And what you describe is really basic interactions... I understand why Gokaiger doesn't have the time to explore who the characters are but it still bothers me a bit. Especially since I just finished Shinkenger where we got to know more about everyone.
I'm all for past Sid and Joe! I really hope we get to learn more about them and why they suddenly decided they didn't want to work for the empire and why Sid is so loyal now and just how the final epic battle between them will go!
